BOTANICAL HYDRATING MIST

Aloe Vera Hydration Elixir

A lightweight, water-based hydration treatment combining 20% aloe vera juice with glycerin, betaine, panthenol, sodium PCA, green tea and two molecular weights of hyaluronic acid.

Designed to deliver the water-based hydration step that an oil or balm cannot.

Mist onto clean skin and follow with your chosen Healer balm to help retain that moisture.

Hydrate first. Nourish second.

WHY WE CREATED THE ELIXIR

Our balms are intentionally water-free.

That makes them concentrated sources of oils, lipids and emollient ingredients — but oils do not provide water to the skin.

So we created the Elixir to do something completely different.

Provide hydration.

It combines water with a carefully selected group of humectants — ingredients that interact with water and are widely used in skincare formulations to support hydration.

This gives The Healer a simple two-step philosophy:

1 — HYDRATE

Botanical Hydrating Mist

2 — SEAL & NOURISH

Whipped Tallow, Rejuvenation Balm or Solar Shield according to your needs.

THE FORMULATION

ALOE VERA JUICE — 20%

The botanical water phase

Aloe vera juice makes up a substantial portion of the Elixir.

Rather than using aloe as a token ingredient at the end of a long ingredient list, we formulated with it at 20%.

Aloe contains water alongside naturally occurring polysaccharides and other plant-derived components.

It contributes to the botanical character of the formulation while complementing the humectant system.

GLYCERIN

The classic humectant

Glycerin is one of skincare's most established humectants.

A humectant interacts with water and helps support hydration within the outermost layers of the skin.

It is effective, well understood and doesn't need an exotic marketing story.

We use it because it works extremely well within a water-based moisturising formulation.

BETAINE

Hydration without unnecessary heaviness

Betaine is a naturally occurring compound used in cosmetic formulations as a humectant and skin-conditioning ingredient.

We use it alongside glycerin rather than relying on a single humectant.

This helps us build a broader hydration system while maintaining the lightweight character we wanted from a mist.

PANTHENOL — PROVITAMIN B5

More than a fashionable active

Panthenol is the alcohol analogue of pantothenic acid, commonly known as provitamin B5.

It is widely used in skincare as a humectant and skin-conditioning ingredient.

At 2% of the formulation, it isn't there simply so we can put "B5" on the bottle.

It forms a meaningful part of the Elixir's hydration system.

SODIUM PCA

Part of skin's natural moisturising story

PCA is one of the components associated with the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor, or NMF.

Sodium PCA is its sodium salt and is used in cosmetic formulations as an effective humectant.

We include it at 2% alongside glycerin, betaine and panthenol.

Rather than asking one ingredient to do everything, the Elixir combines several complementary humectants.

HYALURONIC ACID

Two molecular weights

Hyaluronic acid has become one of skincare's most recognisable ingredients.

But simply saying a product "contains hyaluronic acid" doesn't tell you very much.

Our formulation uses two molecular-weight ranges of sodium hyaluronate.

HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT

The larger polymer primarily remains closer to the skin surface, where it contributes to hydration and film-forming properties.

LOWER MOLECULAR WEIGHT

The smaller molecular-weight material behaves differently within a formulation and complements the surface properties of the larger polymer.

We use the combination because formulation matters more to us than putting one fashionable ingredient on the front of a bottle.

GREEN TEA

A botanical antioxidant component

Green tea — Camellia sinensis — naturally contains polyphenolic compounds including catechins.

It has an extensive history of both dietary consumption and cosmetic use.

We include green tea extract as the botanical antioxidant component of the Elixir.

Its exact properties depend on the extract we use, which is why the specification of the raw material matters just as much as the name "green tea."

WHY WATER MATTERS

There is a lot of marketing around "waterless skincare."

Waterless products can be excellent.

We make several ourselves.

But water is not a bad skincare ingredient.

Hydrated skin requires water.

The question is how a formulation manages that water.

The Elixir provides the water-based step.

Humectants help support hydration.

Your balm then provides the lipid-rich step over it.

That relationship is more useful than pretending either oils or water are inherently superior.

THE HYDRATION SYSTEM

The Elixir doesn't depend on one hero ingredient.

It combines:

Aloe Vera Juice

Glycerin

Betaine

Panthenol

Sodium PCA

High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid

Lower Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid

Each contributes differently to the overall formulation.

Together they create a multi-humectant hydration system without turning the product into a heavy cream.

HOW TO USE

STEP 1 — CLEANSE

Begin with clean skin.

STEP 2 — MIST

Spray the Elixir evenly over the face and neck.

Alternatively, mist into clean hands and gently press into the skin.

STEP 3 — DON'T WAIT UNTIL COMPLETELY DRY

Allow the Elixir to absorb partially.

The skin can remain slightly damp.

STEP 4 — FOLLOW WITH YOUR BALM

Apply a small amount of your chosen Healer balm.

This provides the lipid layer over the water-based hydration step.

CHOOSE YOUR PAIRING

USE IT ON ITS OWN

You don't always need to follow with a balm.

In warm or humid conditions, or if your skin naturally produces more oil, the Elixir may be enough as a lightweight hydration step.

Listen to your skin rather than forcing it into a fixed routine.

WHEN TO USE

Morning

Evening

After cleansing

After showering

Before your moisturising balm

Whenever skin feels like it needs lightweight hydration

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE

On application

Cool • Fresh • Lightweight

As it absorbs

Hydrating • Soft • Non-oily

Afterwards

Comfortable • Supple • Ready for your moisturiser

There are no heavy oils in the core formulation.

The Elixir is designed to disappear into the routine rather than sit heavily on top of it.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Designed for virtually all skin types needing additional hydration:

Dry skin

Dehydrated-feeling skin

Mature-feeling skin

Combination skin

Oily skin

Skin that doesn't enjoy heavy moisturisers

Anyone using one of our water-free balms

Because individual sensitivities differ, patch testing is recommended before first use.

OIL VS WATER:

AN IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE

Dry skin and dehydrated skin aren't necessarily the same thing.

Dry skin generally refers to skin lacking sufficient surface lipids/sebum.

Dehydrated skin describes a state in which the skin has insufficient water.

You can therefore have:

Oily but dehydrated skin.

Dry and dehydrated skin.

Or dry skin that is reasonably well hydrated.

That's one reason we don't try to make one product solve everything.

The Elixir handles the water-based hydration step.

Our balms handle the lipid-rich moisturising step.

Use either individually or combine them according to what your skin needs.

THE PROCESS

Water-based skincare requires a different level of formulation control from an anhydrous balm.

1 — PREPARING THE WATER PHASE

Purified water and aloe vera juice form the foundation.

Accurate weighing and clean manufacturing practices are essential.

2 — BUILDING THE HUMECTANT SYSTEM

Glycerin, betaine, panthenol and sodium PCA are incorporated according to the formulation.

Each must be properly dissolved and distributed.

3 — HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid requires careful hydration.

If added incorrectly, it can form stubborn clumps rather than distributing evenly through the product.

The two molecular-weight materials are incorporated using a controlled process that allows them to hydrate properly.

4 — BOTANICAL ADDITION

Green tea extract is incorporated according to its supplier's recommended conditions.

5 — PRESERVATION

Unlike our water-free balms, the Elixir contains substantial amounts of water.

That makes an effective preservation system essential.

A broad-spectrum cosmetic preservative is incorporated at the appropriate concentration and processing stage.

6 — pH

The finished product's pH is measured and adjusted where necessary to remain within the range appropriate for the formulation and preservation system.

7 — BOTTLING

The finished Elixir is filled into clean cosmetic spray bottles and sealed.

WHY WE USE A PRESERVATIVE

Because this product contains water.

Water-based cosmetics can support the growth of bacteria, yeast and mould if they are not adequately preserved.

Calling a product "natural" does not change microbiology.

For that reason, we will not sell an unpreserved water-based facial mist simply to make the ingredient list look more attractive.

The preservation system is there for product safety.

And its effectiveness should ultimately be confirmed through appropriate microbiological/challenge testing of the finished formulation.

PRODUCT CARE

Keep the bottle closed when not in use.

Store away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Do not dilute the product with water.

Avoid touching the spray outlet directly to the skin.

Do not share an opened facial product where contamination could occur.

If the appearance, colour or odour changes substantially, discontinue use.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this a toner?

It can occupy a similar place in a routine, but we formulated it primarily as a hydrating treatment, not as an astringent toner.

Its purpose is hydration rather than stripping oil from the skin.

Is it a serum?

It contains several ingredients commonly found in hydrating serums, including hyaluronic acid, panthenol, sodium PCA and betaine.

But its texture is deliberately light enough to spray.

Think of it as a hydrating mist-serum hybrid.

Why use two types of hyaluronic acid?

Different molecular-weight ranges have different physical properties.

Using more than one allows us to build a more considered hyaluronic-acid system than simply adding a token amount for the ingredient list.

Will hyaluronic acid dry my skin out?

Hyaluronic acid itself is a humectant.

However, hydration depends on the entire routine and environment rather than one ingredient.

We particularly like using the Elixir underneath one of our lipid-rich balms, combining a water-based hydration step with an emollient finishing layer.

Does it contain oil?

The core Elixir is designed as a lightweight water-based product rather than an oil serum.

Why does it need a preservative when the balms don't?

Water changes the microbiological risk of a cosmetic formulation.

Our anhydrous balms contain essentially no free water.

The Elixir does.

That means an appropriate preservation system is essential.

Can I use it every day?

Yes.

It is designed for regular morning and/or evening use according to your skin's needs.

Can I use it under makeup?

Yes.

Allow it to absorb before applying subsequent skincare or makeup.

Use a small amount initially to determine how it layers with your other products.

HYDRATE FIRST.

NOURISH SECOND.

The Healer's skincare philosophy doesn't require ten steps.

Give the skin water when it needs water.

Give it lipids when it needs lipids.

And formulate both properly.

THE HEALER

Nature heals, we simply honor that wisdom.

Thoughtful ingredients. Purposeful formulation. Nothing hidden.
